Photos of all sorts….

We’ve recently updated the photo gallery, with more staff photos. Have a look through, it varies considerably from Cities to plains, abstract to portraits and oceans to desert dunes.

Chris has also been progressing intensively with the Koh Tao Calendar. Two more girls already photographed this week, with hopefully another 4-5 in the next few days. We’re just looking to the sky waiting for that break in the rain and the sun to reappear!

As well as all that, the new outlines for the video and photography courses are nearly complete.

To say we’re busy in the ACE office is one way to put it! Plus loads more things to come…..keep popping back to check out our news or join the facebook group.

Facebook Galore!

Chris and I have been having fun (of sorts!) putting together the ACE Marine Images facebook page. Similar to what we have here, already but hopefully reaching out to an even wider audience! So any photos or video’s that are ACE related please post.

Wrecked in the Gulf

We are on!

ACE Marine Images are teaming up with Evan Kovacs and Richie Kohler of the History Channels’ Deep Sea Detectives to produce the pilot film for a new TV series best described as American Chopper meets The World’s Deadliest catch. Finally, after almost 3 years on the boil we have reached a solution and are aiming to shoot the first episode in this gargantuan undertaking later this year.

We have attracted the attention of BBC and Discovery amongst others but will produce the film independently, yes, out of our own pockets, with the help of 8 lucky charter guests.

Very exciting stuff and with the big boys along side us I think we may well be looking at something very special! I have just come back from 2 weeks filming and shooting stills on some newly discovered virgin wrecks as well as 2 WWII Japanese Marus, Nanmei and Tottori, all in about 73 meters of clear blue water. On the last day, Richie, wife Carrie and Evan were all treated to their first whale shark experience.

Watch this space as it looks likely that there will be several magazine articles appearing soon about this incredible trip!

And no parasites, Funny Fanny or Funny Fucker, anywhere to be seen. Wonderful!

Well done guys and about time someone started thinking about ways to save Koh Tao. Typical that AcE Marine steps forward. Well done.

You are right brother!

Holy smokes we have been busy. Heather and Andy are doing a fantastic job of running the company and we are happy to announce the arrival of our new accountant, well not really new, my fiance Pu has joined the fray. It also appears that all you Uni students out there are up for some good news as our good friend and colleague, the madman, Canny prepares to make you offers you can’t refuse. Better late than never. Keep your eyes out Shooting People subscribers for bargain packages at www.acemarineimages.com.

So, what have I been up too? Other than settling down and buying a chunk of land I’ve been shooting a swim suit calender, making an environmental film to help protect the future of Koh Tao and trying to find placement for some of our documentaries, both past and future. We are still working on theTrident series with help from friends in Bangkok.

All in all, things have never been better at ACE and we hope that it will continue to grow in the right direction in order to help provide a positive future for Koh Tao!

Sorry Stuart, no gossip, will have to get Knuckles to log on for you. Vikki is safe and sound and selling loads of videos.

Either you’ve been to busy to write anything like I have or you’ve just been drinking and smoking. Either way come on lets have some ACE info for all those fans (Rick Porras et al) out there who are gagging for it…Love you guys and need some ACE Marine soap opera fixes. Will such and such go to bed with what’s her name. Will the dark secret of who gee me flip come to the surface. Will the long lost thingee bob be found out. Will thingee ever find out whosee is cheating on thingee while beening backmailed by whatsit. Will Allan finish sleeping will all those animals in the animal sex hotel. Come on these are the things the public deserves to know.

Part II done and dusted

Friday saw the Koh Tao premier of part 2 of the Plymouth-Banjul Rally movie, Into Africa.  The Brother restaurant was the location and it was great to see around 40 friends and colleagues turn up for an evening of entertainment, a good way to escape the monsoon  rains for a few hours.  Afterwards I heard nothing but good feedback and the general consensus was that everyone enjoyed this latest installment of our Rally adventure.  Many thanks to Vera at Brother and all of his staff for being great hosts and to all of those that took the time to come along and watch…see you for part 3, soon(ish)

Bored in Penang

Heather, Chris and I are currently in Penang on a visa run.  The weather is terrible leaving little to do except sit around the guesthouse catching up on emails and blogging.  I hear that Koh Tao is still getting a drenching , monsoon style, I hope it soon clears as it can start to get pretty depressing after a while.  Not much to tell at all so I will stop here, see you back on the rock soon…

Busy times here at ACE HQ, the VDO courses are  pumping, Dan is readying himself for a season of world class diving over in the Similan Island’s with Phuket Divers as we make our return to Khao Lak after an absence of three years, we have what may be the best team of people we’ve had in a long long while  part two of the Rally film is just about ready for it’s premier evening.  It appears that some hollywood “hotshot’s” are scared of a little competition and are trying to shut us down before we beat them to the punch.

The story is that these “hotshot’s” intend to film this years Plymouth-Banjul challenge with the intention of making a big production backed by the U.S. major’s and they dont like the fact that some film company from Thailand has eluded their gaze and got in there first.  Tough poo is the attitude we have adopted, we welcome competition from anyone as we are confident in our abilities and fully intend to take these bullies on!

Instead of issuing vailed threats aimed at scaring us off they may have had more success if they had approached us and tried working with us, we may even have been an asset to them.  Alas, once again we have an example of the big corporate machine trying to crush the little man, however we’re not the types to run scared and this has galvanised us and made us more determined to succeed with “our” film.

Heather and I are readying ourselves for a trip to Malaysia on a visa run, it’s the night boat for us tonight so no chance for me to cheer on Lewis Hamilton as he chases the F1 title in Brazil.  Hopefully he can replace the smile on English faces after our loss in the rugby world cup last night to the Springbok’s.  Chris will be joining us in Penang on Tuesday so we look forward to checking out some of Penang’s culture during the days and maybe just maybe one or two local ale houses in the evenings!  See you in a week or so…

Sahara the wrong way round.

The second part of our film about the Plymouth-Dakar Rally is almost finished and it looks great. Hollywood is running scared. You’ll all be invited to our party when we’re famous.
